The Department of Pedagogy and History is the first department established at the Eurasian Humanitarian Institute named after A.K. Kusainov and has held a special place in the system of teacher training in the Republic of Kazakhstan throughout its entire history.
Over the years of its activity, the Department has trained more than two thousand specialists for the education system under the educational programs Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education, Pedagogy and Psychology, History, and Preschool Education and Training. Graduates of the Department successfully pursue careers not only in education, but also in public service institutions, as well as in private and non-governmental organizations.
The development of the Department is based on the principles of continuity, professionalism, and orientation toward modern trends in the educational environment. The effective functioning of the Department is ensured through harmonious interaction among senior, mid-career, and early-career faculty members.
Currently, the Department of Pedagogy and History employs 45 faculty members, including:

18 Senior Lecturers.
A Scientific and Problem-Oriented Research Laboratory operates within the Department, focusing on the study of issues related to school history textbooks and the development of teaching and methodological materials for students, teachers, and school pupils. The Laboratory is headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor B.S. Sarsekeev. Research activities of the Department are carried out within the framework of the comprehensive themes “The Competency-Based Approach as the Basis for Developing a New Generation of Textbooks” and “Scientific and Methodological Support and Pedagogical Technologies in the Professional Training of Teachers.”
In line with modern educational requirements, the Center for Psychological and Pedagogical Support of Inclusive Education successfully operates within the Department. The Center is headed by Candidate of Psychological Sciences N.D. Unarbekova. Its activities are aimed at developing an inclusive educational environment, providing psychological and pedagogical support to students, and accompanying the educational process.
The Department pays particular attention to practice-oriented training of students.
Since 2017, a branch of the Department has been operating on the basis of Secondary School No. 32 in Astana.
Since 2020, a branch has functioned at Preschool Institution No. 32 “Baldauren” in Astana.
Since 2024, branches of the Department have been established at Preschool Institutions No. 47 “Ak Zhelken” and No. 93 “Aigolek” in Astana.
The purpose of the Department’s branches is to improve the quality of specialist training, strengthen the practical orientation of the educational process, conduct joint research, and implement research results in educational practice. Consultations, master classes, training sessions, scientific and practical seminars, and experience-sharing events between institute faculty and practitioners are held at the branch sites.
Since 2023, based on a cooperation agreement between the Eurasian Humanitarian Institute named after A.K. Kusainov and School-Gymnasium No. 26 of Astana, the Department has been implementing the “Pedagogical Class” program. The program is aimed at career guidance for upper secondary school students and fostering interest in the teaching profession.
The Department actively engages in international and inter-university cooperation within the framework of agreements and contracts signed between EAGI and higher education institutions in neighboring and distant foreign countries. Faculty members participate in international scientific and practical conferences and seminars and undertake academic visits to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kyiv, Tashkent, Bishkek, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Warsaw, Berlin, and other cities.
Currently, cooperation agreements are in place with the International Center for Advanced Training in Düsseldorf (Germany), Vyatka State Humanities University (Russia), Georgian National University in Tbilisi (Georgia), and Perm State University (Russia). A number of faculty members have completed professional development programs abroad, including in Germany (Düsseldorf), the United Kingdom (Newcastle University), Russia, and Azerbaijan, as well as international online internships on the SKLAD platform covering актуal topics in contemporary education.
Faculty members of the Department also conduct research in the field of Modern History of Kazakhstan, including studies on Kazakhstani culture, industrial development in the 20th century, the fate of the Kazakh intelligentsia, and the agricultural sector in the 1920s–1930s. In addition, they actively explore issues of deviant behavior, social orphanhood, profiling, gender studies, human resource management, pedagogical innovations, students’ independent learning, and the development of psychological and pedagogical competencies among parents.
Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor A.T. Izakova holds a Certificate of State Registration of Copyright for the scientific work “Implementation of the Program for Identifying and Developing Positive Conditions Influencing Destiny (‘Talent Management’) in the Educational Process of a Preschool Institution.”
An important area of the Department’s activity is students’ research work. Under the supervision of faculty members, students actively engage in research, participate in national and city-level research competitions, scientific and practical conferences, and the annual EAGI conference “Science and the New Generation”, earning awards and demonstrating a high level of academic preparation.
The Department places special emphasis on supporting student volunteer initiatives and socially oriented projects. Students actively participate in charitable and socially significant activities aimed at assisting children, elderly people, and other vulnerable groups, visit social service institutions, and implement initiatives focused on compassion, mutual assistance, and social support.
On a permanent basis, the Department operates a Psychological Counseling Office, where psychologist A.B. Musiev provides individual assistance to students on issues of personal and professional development.
Thus, the Department of Pedagogy and History of the Eurasian Humanitarian Institute named after A.K. Kusainov creates a sustainable educational, research, and developmental environment, ensuring the formation of strong knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies in students that are in demand in modern society.
