The Unified Hour devoted to integrity and academic honesty among the youth was held in EAGI
On 27 February 2018 at 11 a.m. there was held a Unified Hour with the participation of the teaching staff and the students of the Departments of EAGI devoted to the integrity and academic honesty among the youth. The aim of the event was the formation of the anti-corruption culture and strengthening of the principles of academic honesty in the student collective. During the Unified Hour the Departments held the flesh mob and the curator’s hours at which the students demonstrated colorful newspapers, made presentations and shared the information on this theme.
In the course of the meeting there were discussed the issues interesting for the students. It was marked that the dishonest tricks used by the students in their educational activity is an acute problem for the system of higher education in many countries including Kazakhstan. A wide spread of dishonest behavior in the educational activity has serious consequences. Firstly, it leads to low effectiveness of investing the resources in students’ training that, in its turn, stipulates the decrease of the level of knowledge and skills of the graduates and, as a consequence, the decrease of the economic potential and the tempo of development.
It was also marked that the academic honesty is one of the key values in the educational process of the Eurasian Humanities Institute. EAGI confirmed the acting “Code of Honesty of a student and a teacher”, “Code of an academic honesty”. The important norm of EAGI is the principle of academic honesty. It means that in the Institute professionalism, responsibility and independence in their activities are of the first consideration. It is unacceptable to juggle and try to avoid complications in the process of education in a dishonest way.
Conducting the Unified Hour showed that the teachers and the students of the Institute consider themselves as responsible members of the academic and student community of EAGI and are ready to follow the moral and ethical rules of the academic activity.
