The Department of Economic and Mathematical Disciplines is one of the leading departments and educational and scientific structural divisions of EAGI. The activities of the Department as a whole are determined by the Institute’s mission, reflecting its place in a single educational space of Kazakhstan.
The educational process of the Department is carried out by highly qualified specialists. Among them there are Doctors of Science, Professors, Candidates of Science, Docents, Masters of Science and Senior teachers.
The Department provides training according to the state obligatory standards of education on the specialty: 5B050900 – “Finance”. Academic degree — Bachelor of Economics and Business.
The main objective of the specialty is to train highly qualified specialists able to work effectively in conditions of market economy, to become competitive specialists in the labour market.
Preparation of students is carried out in the state and Russian languages in the following educational paths: “Banking”, “Financial Management”.
The trajectory of “Financial Management” focuses on the training of senior managers in the financial area (financial Director, Financial Manager). The disciplines of this trajectory are aimed at the assimilation of the fact that a key figure in any business is the financial Manager, the financial Director, to oversee the handling of financial resources.
The trajectory of “Banking” is aimed at training professionals with basic theory and practice of modern banking, the ability to navigate in a complex and economically critical conditions of the country, which is crucial to efficient and qualitative work of future specialists of the banking sector as well as civil servants of the financial system.
With the aim of improving the quality of teaching and meeting the requirements of modular curricula the Department has invited renowned scholars and practitioners, experienced in Finance and banking. The Staff of the Department are provided with the work on the organization of research work and the creation of appropriate conditions for studying in the Bachelor Degree program sources.
Along with the implementation of the teaching load, the staff of the Department conduct active research work on the complex problem “Modernization of economy of Kazakhstan to ensure sustainable financial policy”. The faculty of the Department takes an active part in international, Republican, regional scientific-theoretical and scientific-practical conferences, including the teachers’ publication of scientific articles in journals recommended by the Committee on Control in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in foreign periodicals.
The students are actively involved in the research work. The Department offers business-club “Каржыгер”. At its meetings the students together with the teachers discuss urgent problems of the development of economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Every year the students of the specialty “Finance” take an active part in an interuniversity student’s scientific practical conference on the basis of EAGI “Science and the New Generation” and also participate in the conferences of other universities of Kazakhstan.
The graduates of the Department have established themselves as the competent specialists in such organizations as: JSC “National Company “Kazakhstan TemirZholy”, JSC “Samruk-Kazyna”, JSC NC “KazMunayGas”, JSC “Kazpost”, JSC “KazAgroFinance”, JSC “International Airport Astana”, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture of RK, JSC “National Company “Food Contract Corporation”, the Tax office of Essil district, the Tax Department of Astana city, the State Department of Finance of Astana, the state enterprise “Astana SuArnasy”, the Tax Department in Almaty district of the Tax Department of Astana, “Public Service Center of Almaty district of Astana”, and also in many other industrial, financial and consulting organizations.
