The 85-th anniversary of Mukagaly Mukatayev

On February 2, 2016 there was an open lesson devoted to the 85-th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Mukagaly Mukatayev at the Kazakh and Russian Philology Department.

The State Prize-winner of Kazakhstan Mukagaly Mukatayev made an invaluable contribution not only in the Kazakh Literature but also in translation matter. In his time he translated the Russian and foreign literature into the Kazakh language including  the works of Walter Whitman, the “Divine Comedy” by Dante. His name is as great as the names of Abay Kunanbayev, Mukhtar Auezov and other classics of the Kazakh literature.

The ability to feel compassion, sorrow and good, to be merciful became the main criterion of the poet in assessing the man and it was the theme of his creative works. For him it was very important to be understood and loved by his people.
