The “Reading Nation” project is a large-scale intellectual and educational initiative aimed at fostering a sustainable reading culture among the people of Kazakhstan, developing critical and analytical thinking, and promoting books as an important source of knowledge and personal development.
As part of the project, an extended round table was held on September 15, 2026, with the participation of the Astana Department of Youth Policy. E.D. Bekbulatova, a staff member of the Scientific Library of A.K. Kussayinov Eurasian Humanities Institute, participated in the meeting, which was held at a public library of the Centralized Library System of Astana.
During the meeting, participants discussed the main areas of implementation of the “Reading Nation” project, ways to foster a reading culture among young people, increase interest in books, and develop reading communities within educational institutions.
In accordance with the approved plan, the Institute has launched information and awareness-raising activities under the “Reading University” initiative. To encourage EAGI students to read, develop an intellectual environment, and foster a strong reading culture, the Institute is supporting the activities of the “Oqy” Book Club and the “Zerdeli Ult” programme.
With the participation of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature and the A. Kussayinov Research Centre, students are being introduced to the terms of the reading marathon and the rules for participating in the competition.
The Institute has established a special prize fund for the winners:
1st place — KZT 100,000
2nd place — KZT 70,000
3rd place — KZT 30,000
In addition, a special “Book Corner” dedicated to the project has been opened in the Scientific Library. It features 30 books recommended for the reading marathon and made available to EAGI students.

Reading is an essential foundation for intellectual development, critical thinking, and the enrichment of spiritual and cultural values.
