OUTBOUND INTERNAL ACADEMIC MOBILITY FOR EAGI STUDENTS (WITHIN KAZAKHSTAN)

Outbound internal academic mobility at A.K. Kussayinov Eurasian Humanities Institute (EAGI) provides students from other higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan with an opportunity to study at EAGI for one semester or one academic year, with subsequent transfer of the credits earned and grades obtained to their home university.

Participation Requirements for Students

During the academic mobility period, students study courses at the host university in accordance with an individual academic mobility programme and an agreed study plan.

Main Conditions:

  • duration of study — 1 semester or 1 academic year;
  • study is carried out within a similar or relevant educational programme at the host university;
  • the list of courses and the number of credits are agreed in advance between EAGI and the host university;
  • completed courses, earned credits and grades obtained are transferred to EAGI in accordance with the established procedure;
  • study may be provided free of charge or under other conditions agreed upon by the parties, in accordance with the agreement between EAGI and the host university;
  • accommodation, travel and other related expenses are determined by the conditions of the academic mobility programme and the agreement between the parties;
  • as a general rule, first-year students in their first semester and fourth-year students in their final semester are not eligible to participate in the programme.

Financial Conditions

The financial conditions of participation depend on the specific programme, the conditions established by the host university and the agreement between the parties. Expenses related to tuition, accommodation, travel and other forms of support may be covered by EAGI, the host university, the student, or through grants and other funding sources.

OUTBOUND INTERNAL ACADEMIC MOBILITY FOR EAGI FACULTY AND TEACHING STAFF (WITHIN KAZAKHSTAN)

Within the framework of incoming internal academic mobility, faculty and teaching staff from other universities in Kazakhstan may participate in the educational process of EAGI as visiting lecturers and academic staff.

Main Forms of Participation

EAGI faculty and teaching staff may participate in the following activities:

  • delivering guest lectures and practical classes;
  • teaching individual courses or academic modules;
  • conducting seminars, workshops and practice-oriented sessions;
  • participating in academic conferences, round tables, forums and other educational and scientific events;
  • conducting joint academic and educational activities;
  • exchanging teaching and research experience with the faculty and teaching staff of the host university;
  • participating in the development of joint educational and research projects;
  • establishing professional and academic contacts with lecturers and researchers of the host university.

The subject area, content, teaching workload, format and duration of participation are agreed in advance between EAGI and the host university.

The duration of faculty participation may range from several days or weeks to one semester, depending on the specific programme and agreement between the parties.

Format and Funding

Academic mobility for EAGI faculty and teaching staff may be carried out in both on-site (offline) and remote (online) formats.

Financial conditions are determined by mutual agreement between the parties and in accordance with the relevant agreements. Depending on the specific programme, funding may be provided by the host or sending institution, through reciprocal faculty exchange, grant funding, or other mutually agreed arrangements.

OUTBOUND EXTERNAL ACADEMIC MOBILITY FOR EAGI STUDENTS

Outbound external academic mobility provides EAGI students with opportunities to study at foreign universities and educational institutions for one semester or one academic year.

Participation in international academic mobility enables students to gain experience in an international academic environment, enhance their professional and language competencies, become familiar with international educational practices, and establish contacts with international students and faculty members.

Main Opportunities for Students

  • studying at a foreign university within a similar or relevant educational programme;
  • earning academic credits and transferring them to EAGI upon completion of the programme;
  • studying individual courses and academic modules in a foreign language;
  • improving foreign language proficiency;
  • participating in international educational and cultural activities;
  • developing professional and intercultural competencies;
  • expanding international academic networks and contacts;
  • gaining experience in an international educational environment.

The list of courses, number of credits, study period and conditions for credit transfer are agreed in advance between EAGI and the host foreign university.

Funding

The financial conditions of participation depend on the specific academic mobility programme and the agreement between EAGI and the host university.

Funding may be provided:

  • by the student;
  • through grants, scholarship programmes and other funding sources;
  • through combined funding arrangements agreed by the parties.

Tuition fees, accommodation, travel, medical insurance, visa-related expenses and other costs are determined by the conditions of the specific programme and the agreement between the parties.

OUTBOUND EXTERNAL ACADEMIC MOBILITY FOR EAGI FACULTY AND TEACHING STAFF

EAGI provides its faculty and teaching staff with opportunities to participate in international academic mobility programmes, professional and research internships, visiting lectureships and other forms of academic cooperation with foreign universities and research institutions.

Academic mobility for EAGI faculty may be carried out in both on-site (offline) and remote (online) formats.

Main Forms of Participation

Within the framework of international academic mobility, EAGI faculty and teaching staff may:

  • deliver guest lectures and classes at foreign universities;
  • teach individual courses or academic modules;
  • conduct seminars, workshops and practical sessions;
  • participate in international academic conferences, forums and round tables;
  • undertake short-term research and professional internships;
  • participate in joint research projects;
  • conduct research at foreign universities and research centres;
  • contribute to joint academic publications;
  • develop joint educational programmes and academic modules;
  • exchange teaching and research experience with international colleagues;
  • establish international professional and academic contacts.

The duration of participation is determined by the conditions of the specific programme and may range from several days or weeks to one semester or longer.

Funding for Outgoing Faculty Mobility

The financial conditions of participation depend on the specific programme, the host institution and the terms of the relevant agreement.

Funding may be provided:

  • by the host institution;
  • through grants and scholarship programmes;
  • by international organisations and foundations;
  • through reciprocal faculty exchange;
  • by the participant;
  • through combined funding arrangements agreed by the parties.

Depending on the programme conditions, funding may cover travel, accommodation, meals, insurance, visa support and other expenses related to academic mobility.

COOPERATION WITHIN A NETWORK UNIVERSITY MODEL

EAGI offers foreign and Kazakhstani universities the opportunity to develop cooperation within a network university model.

Under this model, two or more universities may mutually deliver 1–2 courses in English in accordance with the established credit workload of their educational programmes.

Teaching may be conducted in online or offline formats. As part of reciprocal academic exchange, teaching may be provided on a non-remunerated basis.

In the case of online teaching, funding, technical support, class duration and other organisational arrangements are determined by mutual agreement between the parties.

This model makes it possible to:

  • ensure reciprocal participation of EAGI faculty and partner university faculty in the educational process;
  • provide students with access to courses delivered by international and Kazakhstani lecturers;
  • introduce English-medium courses and international educational practices;
  • develop joint educational programmes and academic modules;
  • strengthen international and inter-university cooperation;
  • expand academic mobility opportunities without requiring prolonged physical mobility of faculty and students;
  • establish sustainable academic partnerships between EAGI and partner universities.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

To participate in an outgoing academic mobility programme, EAGI students and faculty members should contact the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization of EAGI.

The Department provides information on available programmes, eligibility requirements, application deadlines, funding conditions and host universities, and also provides advisory support in preparing the required documents.

Opportunities for participation in network university initiatives, joint educational projects and academic exchange programmes are considered on the basis of agreements between EAGI and partner universities.

List of Documents and Requirements for Academic Mobility Programs International (External Outbound) Academic Mobility

 

To participate in the External Outbound Academic Mobility Program, a student must submit the following documents to the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization:

 

  1. a written application addressed to the Rector of EAGI;
  2. a copy of the identity card;
  3. a copy of the international passport;
  4. an academic transcript with a minimum GPA of 3.33 (based on the most recently completed examination session at the time of application and the final transcript issued prior to departure);
  5. an individual study plan with synchronization of courses between the sending and host universities;
  6. the student application form (Application Form);
  7. a recommendation letter from the relevant department;
  8. a Learning Agreement;
  9. a tripartite agreement between the student, the host university and EAGI as the sending university;
  10. a certificate confirming foreign language proficiency:
  11. for studies in English — IELTS with a minimum score of 6.0, TOEFL ITP ≥ 470, or TOEFL iBT ≥ 80;
  12. for studies in other languages — a certificate confirming a minimum B2 level of proficiency (e.g., French, German, Chinese, etc.);
  13. a medical certificate in Form No. 072/u, valid on the date of application;
  14. a notarized written consent from one of the parents or legal guardians;
  15. three photographs measuring 3×4 cm;
  16. for students under 18 years of age — a notarized written consent from the parents or legal representatives, signed by one of the parents or legal guardians.

 

National (Internal Outbound) Academic Mobility

To participate in the Internal Academic Mobility Program, a student must submit the following documents to the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization:

 

  1. a written application addressed to the Rector of EAGI;
  2. the student application form (Application Form);
  3. a copy of the identity card;
  4. an academic transcript with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on the results of the most recently completed examination session);
  5. an individual study plan with synchronization of courses between the sending and host universities;
  6. a tripartite agreement between the student, the host university and EAGI as the sending university;
  7. a recommendation letter from the relevant department;
  8. a Learning Agreement;
  9. a fluorography examination result;
  10. three photographs measuring 3×4 cm;
  11. written parental consent signed by one of the parents or legal guardians.
