Scientific Internships Abroad
Scientific internships are aimed at enhancing the qualifications of scientific and scientific-technical personnel at foreign higher education institutions, research centers and industry-specific organizations.
Who is the program for?
The program is intended for researchers and academic staff who seek to enhance their professional qualifications, gain international research experience and develop cooperation with leading foreign research organizations.
Participation in the program provides an opportunity to expand professional competencies, gain access to advanced scientific practices and technologies, and apply the acquired experience in further research and educational activities.
Key Information
- The state customer of the program is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- The program administrator is JSC «Center for International Programs».
- Duration of the scientific internship — from 3 to 12 months.
- The internship is carried out as part of the participant’s research project.
- The internship is conducted at foreign organizations included in the list of leading foreign organizations recommended for scientific internships.
- The internship topic must correspond to the priority areas of scientific research.
What expenses are covered?
The following main expenses related to the internship may be covered from the republican budget:
- visa processing and extension;
- expenses related to the scientific internship;
- accommodation and meals;
- purchase of scientific literature;
- mandatory medical examination;
- medical insurance;
- travel expenses to and from the internship destination;
- mandatory services required by the host country or organization;
- expenses of the foreign organization stipulated by the agreement for conducting the scientific internship.
Participant’s Obligations
To ensure the fulfillment of the program obligations, the winner of the competition must provide two guarantors who are citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, under 50 years of age, and have had a stable income for the previous 12 months.
Upon completion of the scientific internship abroad, the winner is required to continue uninterrupted employment at the organization that sent them for the internship for at least 3 years, in accordance with the employer’s application.
