Participation of EAGI Professor in the International Forum Shanghai Climate Week – 2026

On April 23, 2026, Saltanat Meiramova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization at the A.K. Kussayinov Eurasian Humanities Institute (EAGI), took part in the international conference 2026 Shanghai Climate Week Climate Change Education Forum, held at East China Normal University (PRC).
Within the framework of the forum, Prof. Meiramova delivered a presentation entitled “Climate Change Higher Education: Practical Pathways for Green Development in Kazakhstan: EAGI Case”, where she presented EAGI’s institutional experience in integrating climate education into humanities-based higher education.
The presentation outlined the key elements of EAGI’s practice-oriented model of climate education, which is based on the integration of internationalization, academic mobility, language education, and digital technologies. Particular emphasis was placed on the need to shift climate education in higher education institutions from a predominantly theoretical approach to the development of practical skills and active student engagement.
The following institutional approaches were highlighted:
— integration of climate-related content into language courses;
— use of academic mobility as a tool for climate learning;
— development of international partnerships as a resource for green transformation of education;
— application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence with a focus on enhancing students’ analytical skills.
Special attention was also given to the role of humanities universities in achieving sustainable development goals, particularly through training specialists with strong communication skills, intercultural competence, and an understanding of global environmental processes.
The presentation attracted significant interest from participants and contributed to the development of international dialogue on climate education and green development. EAGI’s experience was recognized as a replicable model applicable to other humanities institutions.
Participation of Prof. Meiramova in this forum confirms EAGI’s active role in advancing international cooperation and promoting modern educational approaches aimed at addressing global environmental challenges.
