Reading Achievements

On October 22, students of the Eurasian Humanities Institute named after A. K. Kussayinov participated in the inter-university reading conference “Reading — the Foundation of Civilization,” organized as part of the “Reading Nation” project at the invitation of the Department of Language Communication and Translation Studies of Turan-Astana University.

The conference focused on the following key areas:

— National spirit and civic engagement, national identity, and family education.
— History and personal development: historical memory, society, freedom, and compassion.

The works selected for discussion included *Ai men Aisha* by Sherkhan Murtaza, *Oñ qol* by Tolen Abdikov, *The Little Prince* by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, *The Silent House* by Orhan Pamuk, *How to Stop Worrying and Start Living* by Dale Carnegie, and other books.

Two student readers from each university in Astana took part in the conference. They were expected to explore the themes and the authors’ intentions, analyze the characters’ actions, provide specific episodes and quotations, demonstrate the relevance of the books to contemporary society, and present their own conclusions.

The EAGI students achieved excellent results. Әлішер Ерланұлы, a fourth-year student in the “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” educational program, won first place. His supervisor was B. A. Abduganieva, a library staff member. Fourth-year students Сымбат Советова and Феруза Асубаева, from the “Kazakh Language and Literature” educational program, won second place under the supervision of Associate Professor М. Аманғазықызы.

The students’ love of reading, respect for literature, commitment to acquiring knowledge, independent thinking, and perseverance were highly praised. These achievements mark an important step toward their future professional and personal success and are a source of pride for the entire Institute.
